From Rock Bottom to Rebuilding
When Deann first joined BBFC, she rated her health and fitness at a 1 out of 10. She had tried everything before when it came to exercise and nutrition, but without the right coaching and support, nothing stuck.
“Once I hit 40, I realized my true superpower wasn’t super speed or strength. It was encouraging others,” she said. “But I also had to learn to encourage myself.”
Finding a Home at BBFC
What stood out most to Deann about BBFC wasn’t the equipment or the programs. It was the people.
“The coaches genuinely care for the clients,” she shared. “They didn’t just tell me what I wanted to hear. They challenged me to make the changes that would help me accomplish my goals. That’s what I needed.”
The Biggest Shift: Mindset
Now, five years later, Deann has climbed from a 1 to a 7 on her health scale. The progress is obvious in her strength and consistency, but she says the biggest improvement has been her mindset.
“I had to reach the point where I wanted to be healthy,” she explained. “I had to make the decision that I wanted to change.”
Why She Keeps Coming Back
For Deann, BBFC isn’t just about getting fit. It’s about evolving with the community.
“What keeps me coming back is the ability this gym has to adapt and make changes to what the clients need,” she said. “It’s about wellness, not just workouts.”
Her Advice to New Members
When asked what she’d say to someone who thinks they aren’t fit enough to start, her answer was simple and powerful:
“This is why people come to BBFC. Because we started not being fit and wanted to become healthy and gain understanding of what wellness and health really mean.”
