Member of the Month: Brittney Kingsbury

Meet Brittney Kingsbury, our Member of the Month! At 38 years old, she brings a little sass, a lot of fun, and a ton of encouragement to the Black Bear Fitness Co. community.

What is your Super Power?

“Little bit of sass, a lot of fun. I’m the personality hire, encouragement!”

What exercise/nutrition plans did you try before joining Black Bear Fitness Co.?

“Doing random workouts like walking, attempting to run with running programs, following ‘30-Day Challenges,’ and trying commercial gyms.”

How would you describe your health and fitness level on a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being poor and 10 being excellent) and why, before joining Black Bear Fitness Co.?

“Probably a 4. I wasn’t ‘fit’ by any means. I couldn’t stay consistent in any workout plan, but I was able to take walks and do daily activities. I had continued to gain weight, so it was making things harder.”

What made you choose Black Bear Fitness Co. over other options?

*”I was hesitant at first because I didn’t think I could do any of the exercises. I met with Lucas for my intro, and he explained to me how we would start with basic skills to see where I was and then build from there.

I felt more comfortable knowing that my current fitness level would be taken into consideration. I knew I would be challenged but not expected to be perfect at all the skills right away.

I saw others working out at different skill levels, and I knew that I could begin there.

Additionally, in the beginning, I was unsure about fitting in, but I found all the coaches and the other gym members to be very friendly and welcoming.”*

What do you feel makes Black Bear Fitness Co. unique as opposed to other gym facilities?

*”There is a real focus on individual abilities with my private sessions and meeting me where I am each day. Even now, two years in, if I need modifications or if I’m having a rough day, the coaches are great at making sure I’m still getting a good workout and that I’m learning new skills as things go on.

Also, the whole gym community is great and so supportive—it’s like working out with friends all the time.

Group classes are great, and even when I found them intimidating at first, I found that I can do skills at my level while still working out in the group class and achieving my goals.”*

What is the biggest improvement you have noticed in yourself since joining BBFC?

*”I’m definitely more confident.

I have gained new skills in the gym as far as actual gym activities, but I also find that in my daily life, I am able to move more confidently, and daily activities are easier.

I also have been able to notice changes in my level of daily stress—I am off medications (under the supervision of my doctor, of course).

I am more aware of my healthy habits, and my mood has improved so much.”*

What do you think it is about BBFC that keeps you coming back?

*”It’s the people for sure! From the coaches to the other members, everyone is so supportive, friendly, and invested in each other’s wins.

It’s truly a great community!”*

What would you say to someone who thinks they are not “fit” enough to start their journey with BBFC?

*”If you’re a person, you’re fit enough!

It feels like a big thing to commit to, but the benefits are so much better than not starting.

BBFC starts where you’re at and helps you gain the confidence and skills to continue to grow and become the best version of yourself.

You get to set your goals, work towards them, and accomplish them in your own time.”*
