When Michelle Lee Suaraz joined Black Bear Fitness, she was ready for a change. After trying different approaches to reclaim her health, this time she was focused on building sustainable habits. Little did she know how much her mindset and daily routines would evolve in just 90 days.
At the start, Michelle wasn’t sure how much progress she’d see. She tracked her body composition with an InBody scan, and after 90 days, the results spoke for themselves: she had lost 5.5 pounds, gained 0.4 pounds of muscle, and reduced her body fat by 0.9%. But the real victory was in the habits she formed along the way.
Building Healthy Habits
Michelle began by tackling one of her biggest challenges—consistency. She committed to eating three meals a day, focusing on protein and tracking her caloric intake. Although these changes felt small at first, they started to make a big impact.
One of her biggest wins was giving up soda—a change she didn’t expect to last long but stuck with for over two months. Fast food became a thing of the past, and she dramatically cut back on social drinking, going from regular drinks to only one per month. These changes weren’t easy, but Michelle began to see her body transform. The biggest milestone came when she was able to button a pair of shorts she hadn’t worn since the summer began.
Overcoming Struggles
Of course, Michelle’s journey wasn’t without its challenges. She struggled with cravings for carbs and sugar, often feeling like food was controlling her. “It felt like I was addicted to food,” she admitted. Despite these obstacles, Michelle stayed the course, reminding herself that progress takes time. She focused on celebrating small victories instead of perfection.
Looking Ahead
As Michelle enters the next 30 days, she’s excited to build on her progress. Her goals include incorporating more vegetables, hitting 150 grams of protein per day, and working out at least three times a week. She’s also making healthier swaps, like replacing tortillas with egg white wraps to stay on track with her nutrition.
What Michelle has learned is that these changes aren’t temporary—they’re part of a sustainable lifestyle. She’s slowly mending her relationship with food and developing healthier ways to cope with emotions, making this journey about more than just weight loss.
Reflecting on Her Journey
When asked how her life has changed, Michelle reflects, “It’s not just about the weight I’ve lost—it’s about feeling stronger, mentally and physically. My relationship with food is improving, and I’m learning healthier ways to cope.”
Her advice for others? Be patient. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but with consistency and support, it’s possible to transform your life.
